Privacy
Short version: this site sets no cookies, runs no analytics, loads nothing from anyone else's servers, and has no account system. The only personal data question worth asking is what happens to the leaderboard, and the answer is below.
Who is responsible
The data controller is SEO S.R.L., Via Roma 163, 73021 Calimera (LE), Italy, VAT 05151910758. Contact: info@seo.srl.
What is stored on our server
Only when you finish a game and a score is sent to the leaderboard:
- Three characters you typed yourself (A–Z, 0–9). Nothing checks or asks whether they are your initials.
- Your score and the level you reached.
- How long the run lasted and the seed of its random number generator — both used to reject impossible scores.
- The date the score arrived.
Kept for as long as the entry stays on the board. Only the top ten are shown; a short list beyond that is kept so the board refills when an entry is removed.
About your IP address
To stop one person flooding the board, the server counts recent submissions. It does not store your IP address. It stores a one-way hash of it, computed with a secret random value, and deletes it within two hours. The hash cannot be turned back into an address, and it is never shown, exported or joined to anything else.
What stays on your own device
The game keeps a small record in your browser's local storage, under the key
mantis.arcade.v1: your three characters, your personal best, how many
imaginary coins you have dropped, and whether sound is on. It never leaves your
device and we cannot read it. Clearing your browser's site data erases it. If your
browser refuses local storage, the game still works — it just forgets you.
This is not a cookie and is not used to recognise or follow you anywhere.
What we do not do
- No cookies of any kind, so no cookie banner.
- No analytics, no tag manager, no advertising, no social buttons.
- No third-party requests at all: fonts, scripts and images are served from this domain. The only request the page makes is to our own leaderboard.
- No profiling, no automated decision-making, no data sold or shared.
- No newsletter, no contact form, no payment.
Legal basis and your rights
Publishing a score you chose to submit rests on our legitimate interest in running a public leaderboard (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR); the anti-flood hash rests on the same basis, for security. Since three self-chosen characters normally identify nobody, most of the data here is not personal data at all — but if an entry does identify you, or you simply want it gone, write to info@seo.srl saying which entry, and we remove it. No justification needed.
You may also lodge a complaint with the Italian supervisory authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali.
